The Woodlands Microdermabrasion Experts

As people age, their faces begin to reveal the passage of time in the form of wrinkles and dull, lifeless skin. One of the least invasive and easiest ways to tackle this unwanted look is the application of microdermabrasion. This procedure revitalizes the skin, giving the patient a younger, refreshed look.

If you want to address and eliminate your facial aesthetic concerns with a simple and straightforward procedure, then microdermabrasion may be the right choice for you. Call the microdermabrasion experts at The Freeman Center for Aesthetic Surgery in The Woodlands today at 281-210-3196 to speak with one of our experienced medical professionals about your situation.

Procedure Description

A microdermabrasion procedure is the least invasive facial rejuvenation method that exists today. During this treatment, the patient remains fully awake. However, special goggles will need to be worn in order to protect the eyes while the face is cleansed.

During the microdermabrasion treatment, a small wand is used to abrade the skin with tiny sand-like particles. This rubs off the top layer of skin (also known as the epidermis), prompting the body to react by replacing the lost skin cells with healthy new ones.

The procedure generally takes anywhere from 30-60 minutes. Patients may receive microdermabrasion just about anywhere on their bodies - face, hands, feet, neck, chest, or back.

Recuperation & Healing

After a microdermabrasion procedure, the treated skin may be slightly red and mildly swollen. A good moisturizer should be applied immediately after the treatment, and the skin should be protected from the sun with a good sunscreen.

Skin care products, except cleanser and moisturizer, should be avoided for several days to prevent irritation. In order to optimize the results, the patient should begin a good skin care routine prior to undergoing the procedure.

Intended Result

Microdermabrasion is used to help soften fine lines and mild acne scars as well as help decrease irregular pigmentation. It may also be used on new surgical scars to help decrease the visibility of the scar.

Other Options

Other types of peels such as glycolic acid can be performed to help rejuvenate the skin. Combining this procedure with other services such as Collagen or Botox injections can achieve enhanced results.

Who is a Candidate?

Ideal candidates for microdermabrasion include the following:

  • Those who desire to improve the surface quality of their skin
  • Those who want to decrease fine lines, acne scars or brown spots.
  • Those who have had other resurfacing procedures such as laser resurfacing and wish to keep their results at an optimal level.
