The Woodlands Breast lift Surgeons
Many women are unaware that there are procedures other than breast enlargement or reduction surgeries that can dramatically alter the shape and size of their breasts. Procedures like a breast lift, for example, are relatively simple but can significantly alter the appearance of a woman?s breasts.
The Woodlands breast lift surgeons at The Freeman Center for Aesthetic Surgery are here to answer any questions you may have regarding breast augmentation procedures. However, if you are considering a breast lift, your questions may be answered in the section below.
Procedure Description
Breast lifts are conducted as outpatient procedures and typically use either local or general anesthesia. The placement and design of the incision may vary, but most often a Breast lift includes an incision around the nipple-areolar complex as well as in the crease under the breast.
The nipple-areolar complex is repositioned higher on the breast, while any excess skin is removed and the breast is reshaped in a pleasing contour and in a normal position. Depending on the specific situation, an implant may or may not be advised.
Recuperation and Healing
After the procedure, you can return home the same day in a bra with only light dressings over the incision locations. The bra acts as a "dressing" for approximately 2-3 weeks. After a 2-3 week period, sutures can usually be completely removed.
Any initial discomfort that you experience after the surgery will be controlled with oral medication. Light activities can usually be started 7-10 days after the procedure takes place.
Intended Results
A breast lift can provide you with a more youthful and elevated breast contour. Additionally, it can provide you with nipple-areolar complexes of the desired size at the correct height.
Other Options
Depending on your specific situation, The Woodlands breast lift surgeons at The Freeman Center for Aesthetic Surgery may advise a breast reduction or enlargement in addition to or in place of a breast lift. Decisions like these will be discussed during your consultation.
Note
Any risks that you might face during breast lift surgery can only be determined during a personal consultation, as risk factors vary from person to person. While major complications are rare, minor complications do take place occasionally that do not affect the outcome.
Insurance Guidelines
Since a breast lift is considered to be a cosmetic procedure, it is not covered by insurance. As such, you will be responsible for your payment in full.
Who Is A Candidate?
There are multiple situations in which you may want to consider breast lift surgery. This procedure is often beneficial for women who:
- Have sagging breasts due to past pregnancies, genetics, or aging
- Have sagging that is too serious to be treated with only an implant
- Have enlarged nipple-areolar complexes
