Specialized Services - Laser Therapy

Spider Veins, or telangiectasias, are those small red, blue and purple blood vessels that appear most frequently on the face and thighs.

Varicose Veins are those usually larger than an inch in diameter and may also be related to more serious vein disorders and require a careful evaluation by your doctor prior to treatment.

Laser Vein Therapy

Today’s new medical lasers provide safe and effective non-surgical treatment options for the removal of spider and varicose veins. Our new, advanced laser treatments allow us to deliver a precise dosage of energy to each vein, in a series of brief pulses.

The light energy is absorbed and which causes a coagulation of the blood vessel. It is subsequently absorbed by your body.

Recent advances in laser technology have provided plastic surgeons with new options in the treatment of damaged and wrinkled skin. By passing a beam of laser across the skin, the doctor is able to remove damaged skin layer by layer. More commonly, the laser is used to reduce the wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes and mouth. As the treated area heals, new skin begins to grow with the result being a more smooth, tight, youthful complexion. For smaller, segmented areas, this procedure can be performed in the office under I.V. sedation but for more extensive resurfacing, it is recommended that the procedure be performed at an outpatient surgery center under general anesthesia.

Postoperatively, expect some mild swelling and discomfort, which can be controlled with medications and cold compresses. The skin that is left exposed after the procedure will harden and crust over but should be gone in approximately ten days. For the next six to eight weeks, the skin will be pink to red but is easily concealed with make up after about two weeks. Some residual pinkness to the skin will remain for two to three months.
